Donna’s Passion for Everything Beautiful Shows in Her White Rock B&B
It’s a simple house in an unassuming neighborhood, about 45 minutes from Vancouver in the popular White Rock beach area. But the owner has transformed Donna’s Bed and Breakfast into what she calls a tiny organic Versailles. The french, architecture and home economics teacher is as close as you will get to an environmentally conscious Martha Stewart. The best part of it is, you don’t have to just read about her place in a magazine, you’re more than welcome to stay in one or both of her two bed and breakfast rooms. When you do, you are guaranteed to be treated like a prince or princess royal with her top-notch customer service and attention to every detail.
We stayed in the Versailles Room, a converted master bedroom and ensuite with double french doors onto a semi-private patio. In decorating this room, as in the rest of her home, she has spared no attention to detail. From the crown moldings on the ceiling, to the luscious linens on the bed and the closet that has been converted into a walk-in coffee, refrigerator, microwave and magnificent dressing area. The bathroom with it’s classic white ruffled shower curtain and decadent organic soaps, shampoos and other amenities is a place where you just don’t want to leave.

And if you think it can’t get any better, think again, Donna’s breakfast is beyond belief. She served us fresh fruit in a beautifully carved melon shell and piece de resistance was her specialty, Donna’s pain de versailles, a scrumptious bread creation with fruit, egg and whipped cream, french press coffee, and fresh squeezed organic orange juice. Some of the other breakfasts she serves include, Donna’s Garden Crustless Quiche, Donna’s Famous French Pecan Toast and Donna’s Frittata di Asparagi. And, did I mention it is served either on her tranquil garden patio or in her lovely dining room.
