Sidney Spit-Paradise Found in British Columbia’s Salish Sea
It may be only four kilometers and a 24 minute boat ride from Vancouver Island, but when you step onto the small passenger ferry that takes you over to Sidney Spit, it feels like you’re heading to a far off island. The spit has some of the finest beaches in the Victoria area. Tidal flats, salt marshes and spectacular views abound on this long, sandy stretch and its adjacent lagoon. When the tide is out you can walk for miles along its shores. Shells and sea life are abundant. Sidney Spit is now part of the Gulf Islands National Park.
There are 30 walk in campsites where you can set up your tent on the soft sand surface of the island. You must be registered at a campsite before the last ferry leaves for the day.
